Scope and controller
This policy applies to the iOS application Air Cast: Remote & Stream (the “App”) published on the Apple App Store. By installing or using the App, you acknowledge the practices described here.
The publisher of the App acts as the data controller for any limited personal data processed in connection with the App. Contact details for privacy requests are listed in section 10.
Data we collect
Air Cast is designed to work without an account. The categories below are exhaustive — anything not listed is not collected.
Local-only data
- Discovered devices. The names, IP addresses, and capability descriptors of TVs and casting receivers found on your Wi-Fi. This information stays on your device and is used only to display a list of TVs you can cast to.
- Session state. Pairing tokens, last-used device, and connection preferences are stored locally so you don't have to pair every time.
- Media you cast. Photos, videos, audio, and screen frames are streamed directly from your iPhone to your TV over your local network. They are never uploaded to us or any third-party server.
Diagnostic data
- Crash logs and performance metrics. If a crash occurs, anonymous technical information (device model, iOS version, stack trace, app version) is sent to our crash-reporting provider. These logs do not include the content you were casting.
- Aggregated usage events. We measure feature-level usage (e.g. “mirror started”, “DLNA discovered”) to prioritize fixes. Events are pseudonymous and not linked to your Apple ID or email.
Purchase data
- Subscription and one-time purchases. In-app purchases are processed entirely by Apple's App Store. We receive only the transaction receipt necessary to verify entitlements; we never see your payment card or full Apple ID.
Device permissions
The App requests the following iOS permissions strictly for the features they enable:
- Local Network. Required to discover and connect to TVs, Chromecast, Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, and DLNA receivers on your Wi-Fi. Without it, no casting target can be found.
- Photos (read). Used only when you tap “Cast Photo” or “Cast Video” to pick media from your library. Selection is performed in-app and not transmitted off-device.
- Microphone. Optional. Used only for voice-search input within the Apple TV / Fire TV remote screens and is not recorded or stored.
- Screen Recording (ReplayKit). Used to mirror your screen to a TV. The recorded frames are encoded and streamed to your TV in real time and are never written to disk or sent to our servers.
- Bluetooth. Used only for HomeKit / Companion-Link pairing with Apple TV when applicable.
- Notifications. Optional. Used to inform you about connection status and important service updates.
You can revoke any permission at any time in Settings → Air Cast. Some features will become unavailable when the corresponding permission is denied.
How we use data
- To provide the casting, mirroring, and remote-control functions you request.
- To restore your premium entitlements across devices via Apple's StoreKit.
- To diagnose crashes and prioritize compatibility work for specific TV models.
- To comply with applicable law and respond to lawful requests.
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or behavioral tracking. We do not sell or rent personal data to anyone.
Data retention
- On-device data persists until you delete the App or clear it in Settings.
- Crash logs are retained by our diagnostics provider for up to 90 days, then anonymized aggregates only.
- Purchase receipts are retained for the period required by Apple and applicable tax law (typically up to 7 years).
Your rights
Depending on where you live (including the EEA, UK, and California), you may have the right to:
- Request access to the personal data we hold about you;
- Request correction or deletion of that data;
- Object to or restrict certain processing;
- Lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
Because we do not collect identifiers tied to you, most requests are satisfied by uninstalling the App. For anything else, contact us using the details in section 10 and we will respond within 30 days.
Children's privacy
Air Cast is rated for general audiences and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect product, legal, or operational changes. When we do, we revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, present an in-app notice the next time you open Air Cast.
